I use a combination of brands. Mainly because I have them, and I am not in a position to upgrade unless I have run out of a particular colour!

Thanks for this poll. I'm enjoying reading the comments - finding out what other people are using and why they choose that.

My go-to brands are St Petersberg White Nights and Rosa Gallery for solid watercolour, because they are finely ground and mostly are single pigment. But they are harder to get hold of in the UK. I also use Winsor and Newton (I started off with a set of 36 Cotman solids and have added a few other colours plus a couple of professional solids along the way), Schmincke (only the Titanium Opa White), and some van Gogh tubes. I prefer solid pans over tubes atm, because I have small children and no studio space. Sometimes, I choose to use these over my go-to pans to get a particular effect, for example the W&N cobalt is quite a bit more granular than the StP so they work better for different weather skies and different bodies of water.

UniPin 0.3 or 0.5 for outlining. Derwent Inktense (watercolour) pencils plus waterbrushes for watercolour whilst not at home - with small children in tow, setting up with an easel etc for plein aire is not really an option! They are also 100y lightfast across the range, which is handy - so they may become part of my general setup over time.

My daughters gave me a set of generic metallic watercolour pens for Christmas ("they don't have any brand on but they had the best reviews on A....n, Mummy") which are brilliant so far although they get a little inky if they aren't stored correctly. I have yet to use them for anything other than lettering though...! Any suggestions for 'next time try x brand' would be welcome.
